Our first “post-lockdown” Volunteer Event was a resounding success. More than 30 Volunteers came to support our Community regeneration project. This weekend was focussed on clearing much of the vegetation and debris from the old “5-a-side pitch / Car Park” area.
A huge amount of green waste was removed, along with a great deal of rubble and (to be honest) fly-tipping that has taken place over our perimeter fence. Now that we have cut the growth back, we can be more aware of such activity, and take appropriate action.
It really was brilliant to have the support and involvement of so many local volunteers, aged from 5 years old (Harry) through to 80 year old (Anonymous!) It was great to hear the words of support from everyone, along with commitment to become involved from some of our “new friends” – this can only help the project become more reflective of the Community that we aim to serve.
All in all a superb few days! Thanks to one and all for their involvement – including donations including some scrumptious cakes, a fridge and a toaster for use at future events….One Excellent Weekend!
